SLI ONC Team Completes First Stage 2 Test Engagement

SLI’s ONC Testing Team is excited to announce that in February they completed their first Stage 2 testing engagement for an Electronic Health Record product. The product was tested against a number of the ONC’s 2014 Meaningful Use Criteria and was successfully issued a certification for that criteria in February of this year. Testing in Stage 2 is a rather new activity for all of the ONC’s Authorized Testing Labs but SLI’s ONC Testing Team did a great job of working through the newer criteria that they had been training on for the previous couple of months.

HHS Thought Leader Joins SLI's Management Team to Expand Government Services Offerings

Mr. Jennings has been active for over a decade at the Human Services IT Advisory Group (HSITAG) trade group where he recently served as Chair and Vice Chair. He has been a featured speaker at American Public Human Services Association - IT Solutions Management (APHSA ISM) conferences and has also served as the industry chair for the ISM Marketing Committee.

SLI selected as VSTL to Hart InterCivic

SLI Global Solutions has been selected by Hart InterCivic as their Voting System Test Lab (VSTL) for testing to the VVSG 2005 requirements for the Verity Voting 1.0 System. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) completed the review of the application package and has approved.

SLI Providing QA and Management Services on Iowa’s Integrated Eligibility System Project

The State of Iowa’s Department of Human Services (DHS) has entered into a multi-year contract with SLI Global Solutions, Inc. (SLI) to deliver Quality Assurance (QA) services for their Integrated Eligibility System Project known as Eligibility Integrated Application Solution (ELIAS). DHS also included a staff augmentation component to the contract in which SLI is assisting with the technical, testing, and risk management aspects of the project. DHS chose a QA approach that calls for full-time assessments of virtually all aspects of the project, where SLI core staff and technical/subject matter specialist review the processes and products that are developed by the other vendors on the project.

The ELIAS Project is the State’s initiative to develop a new system to have a single integrated system that determines eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (Food Assistance), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Family Investment Program (FIP). In addition Iowa’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) program will use the new system to determine eligibility. Automated Benefits Calculation System (IABC) has been in continuous operation since the late 1970s, supporting the State’s eligibility and benefit issuance obligations. IABC is outdated and cumbersome for staff to use and applicants cannot interact directly with the benefits calculating system. This has resulted in many manual workarounds and inefficient processes. As a result, DHS decided replace the IABC and, in doing so, has enlisted the assistance of SLI to help mitigate project risks and manage specific aspects of the project.

The QA contract provides DHS with system development and implementation assessment services that focus on the processes and products of the team building ELIAS. The product is being built using an Agile systems development lifecycle methodology. The SLI QA team is customizing its ISO 9001:2008 certified Quality Management System to address the special needs of this innovative approach to software development. However, the overall objective of SLI’s reviews remain focused on assessment of development processes to ensure they are accurately documented and conform to contractually defined standards.
This is the second major contract where SLI is partnering with Iowa to improve the delivery of services on IT projects. SLI is currently providing QA services on the State’s Medicaid Management Information System project.

SLI Awarded IV&V Contract for Michigan's Driver License and Vehicle Registration System Development Project

SLI, a leading provider of government IT risk management services, has signed a new contract with the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) to conduct Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) assessments of the design, development, and implementation of the Business Application Modernization (BAM) Project. The three-year contract includes two one-year optional renewal periods.
BAM provides Driver Issuance, Vehicle Titling & Registration, Financials & Investigations, and Driver Activity/Record functionality. The focus of the IV&V effort is on the following twelve areas: Planning Oversight, Project Management, Quality Management, Requirements Management, Production, Development Environment, Testing Environment, Software Development, System and Acceptance Testing, Data Management, and Operational Oversight.

Under the contract, SLI will conduct an initial review and subsequent periodic reviews of BAM processes and products. Each review cycle result in a report of findings and recommendations, and a subsequent Management Briefing. IV&V reviews will take no longer than a ten to twelve-week timeframe from initiation through final report delivery and presentation. SLI will also review the existing development contract to assess any risks associated with this six-year-old work agreement. On an on-going basis, SLI will assess that the construction contractor’s work is aligned with the contract. Additionally, SLI will evaluate all associated entities and key individuals involved and present those findings and recommendations to identified project sponsors and stakeholders.

SLI awarded Testing and Certification Contract for the Republic of the Philippines 2013 Election

SLI is pleased to announce our contract with the Philippine Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the agency which governs all election activity in the Republic of the Philippines. SLI will conduct source code and documentation review, functional testing, trusted build, and an end-to-end testing to ensure that the country's Automation Election System (AES) works properly, accurately, and securely for the 2013 polls.

The certification activities will be conducted in our secure NIST accredited test lab in Denver, Colorado, while other activities will be done in Manila such as the Final Trusted Build, and some functional tests (volume test, stress test, electronic transmission and communications testing and 12 hour battery test) and an end-to-end testing.

This is SLI's third initiative with COMELEC which has included the independent testing of the their new automated election system in 2010.

New Board of Directors Members seated as SLI Continues to Grow

SLI Global Solutions, a leading software testing and quality assurance solutions provider, has added industry-recognized executive expertise to its Board of Directors to guide its strategic development.

New board member Art Rancis is a seasoned senior executive who has held upper management positions in marketing, sales, manufacturing, engineering, R&D, international, and finance in companies ranging from venture startups to $50 Billion plus in revenue. He is an Executive Board Member of the Deming Center, University of Colorado Leeds School of Business and was Vice President and General Manager for the Commercial Products and Technologies group at Ball Aerospace. Art currently serves on the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Awards committee.

Continuing on his role on the SLI board is Terry Piddington who currently serves as Senior Partner and President at Core Capital Group, an investment banking firm that provides strategic and merger and acquisition services to a broad range of technology companies. Terry has been directly involved in the M&A world for over 20 years and has led a great many successful transactions with government contractors in the $10 million to $100 million revenue range. Prior to joining Core Capital Group in 2000, Terry had over 25 years of executive-level operating, marketing and sales, strategic development and M&A experience in both the public and private sectors.
