Test Specialist
The SLI Test Specialists within the Quality Solutions Line of Business (LOB) provide day-to-day execution of the tasks necessary that support the operations and delivery of software and hardware test engineering services to product manufacturers operating within the regulated voting industry. The Specialists ensure that voting testing services meet rigorous federally defined standards for voting systems, which enables the company to certify that the voting system satisfies the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines and that related system functionality operates in accordance with design requirements and specifications. Test Specialists report directly to a Test Manager.
Job Specifications
- Must be proficient in all Windows operating system environments and have experience as a tester. Experience with other operating systems is a plus.
- Experience as an end user with any computer based voting system is a plus.
- Experience with programming languages is a plus.
- Detail-oriented and focused.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work with vendors as well as state and federal public officials.
- Understanding of quality assurance methodologies including software and/or hardware engineering.
- Ability to present themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to understand and demonstrate to SLI’s clients our ability to meet their needs and expectations.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Must be able to grasp and learn new testing techniques, test tools, and environments quickly.
- Actual project experience in at least one automated test tool is required.
- Knowledge of CMMI, IEEE and ISO not required, but beneficial.
- Minimum of 5+ years of technical experience in software quality assurance/quality control, test engineering or software development and engineering.
- A technical 4-year degree in computer science, computer information systems, or engineering is recommended, but substantial test engineering experience can be substituted.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The job responsibilities involve working with a team of Test Specialists, managed by experienced Test Managers, reviewing and analyzing vendor documentation and also developing, validating and executing software test methods and test procedures.
- Test Specialist(s) will be responsible for thoroughly testing systems that have been developed by a third party (the Client). Testing may consist of, but is not limited to integration, functional, recovery, performance, volume, stress, usability and documentation testing.
- Test Specialist(s) will be required to follow comprehensive test plans, test cases/suites, and detailed test procedures that will lead them through the test effort.
- Test Specialist(s) will be responsible for understanding the EAC established requirements and submitting discrepancies accordingly in a timely manner.
- Test Specialist(s) will be exposed to different types of voting systems which run in different environments. The tester will be required to spend on-the-job time learning these systems as well as new environments.
- Test Specialist(s) may be required to use automated test tools (such as requirements management and/or test management tools) in performing their duties.
Working Conditions
- Work on-site at SLI facility in Denver, Colorado
- Hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Source Code Review Analyst
The SLI Source Code Review Specialists (SCRS) within the Quality Solutions Line of Business (LOB) provide day-to-day execution of the tasks necessary that support the operations and delivery of compliance test engineering services to product manufacturers operating within the regulated voting industry. The individual will be responsible for the inspection of source code to determine the extent to which it conforms to defined certification standards. Included is the evaluation and review of software design documentation and specifications for systems under evaluation.
SCRS Specialists ensure that voting testing services meet rigorous federally defined technical standards for voting systems, which enables the company to certify that the voting system satisfies the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines and that related technical specifications and source code operate in accordance with design and requirements specifications. SCR Analysts report directly to a Test Manager.
Job Specifications
- Candidates must be able to utilize various tools to prepare and compare code for review.
- Canidates must be able to effectively document the findings of the source code evaluation.
- Candidates will be required to witness and understand source code builds into application and installation procedures.
- Experience with development and maintenance of coding standards.
- Detail-oriented and focused and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work with vendors as well as state and federal public officials and have good customer interfacing skills
- Understanding of quality assurance methodologies including software and/or hardware engineering.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access, Project, and Outlook) with emphasis on Excel.
- 3 years experience in the creation and analysis of software requirements and functional software design documents.
- 3 years with strong background/experience/working knowledge in three or more of the following programming languages: PowerBuilder, C, C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic, HTML, Assembler, and Cobol.
- Strong detail orientation
- Knowledge of CMMI, IEEE and ISO not required, but beneficial.
- Ability to present themselves in a professional manner at all times, but more specifically, at seminars, client meetings, and conferences.

Software Load and Performance (L&P) Test Engineer
- Interact with Client IT teams to understand Client’s L&P testing goals and expectations
- Develop automated L&P test scripts to implement Client-provided user tasks
- Understand L&P test data requirements to conduct automated L&P test runs
- Work with Lead L&P Test Engineer to:
- identify the target system L&P test environment / platform(s)
- define / install / manage L&P tool load origination platform(s)
- collaborate with Client IT teams, as needed, for L&P test data
- configure operating parameters for automated L&P test runs
- Collaborate with Client IT teams, as needed, to prep / manage the test environment for test runs
- Perform L&P test runs using automated L&P test tools; monitor test run performance; collect results
- Review all L&P tool test results / charts to identify which results / charts provide needed findings
- Work with Lead L&P Test Engineer to organize and present L&P test runs’ results and findings
Techncal skills experience:
- IT-related BS degree [ other technical degree may be allowed ]
- 3 + yrs of automated L&P test work experience, including testing 3-tier architecture systems
- Ability to clearly describe and explain concurrent loads and cumulative sessions totals
- 2 + yrs of work experience with L&P tools such as LoadRunner, SilkPerformer or NeoLoad.
- Experience correlating L&P test scripts with various protocols (e.g., Oracle, MySql, Flex)
- Knowledge of Virtual Users’ memory-footprints for various languages and protocols
- Strong SQL experience
- Strong understanding of automated testing strategies and data-driven testing methodologies

Work Tasks
