LEARN MORE - FUNCTIONAL SYSTEM TESTING
SysTest Labs provides the full spectrum of Functional System Testing services:
  • Test Management, Planning and Preparation. SysTest Labs has a wealth of experience in designing and managing functional system test engagements. When available, we use your application requirements and specifications, use cases, user guides, training material, etc. on which to base our testing. Whenever possible, we leverage your existing software test plans, test cases and procedures when developing our test documentation. Our test management and planning efforts result in numerous deliverables:

    • Functional System Test Work breakdown structure, project planning, resource allocation and scheduling
    • Client coordination
    • Status/progress reporting
    • Test plans, test cases, test procedures and test data
    • Results metrics
    • Integration Testing. This is a highly ordered process in which software, hardware and other components are combined and integrated. Typically, this type of testing is comprised of two tiers: the first involving the developers, assisted by business users. The second performed by SysTest Labs to further assure system quality.

  • Installation Testing. Used to validate that a system can be successfully installed on the target platform, is usable, and that the installation guidelines are accurate.
  • Requirements, Specification and Use Case Based Testing. This service ensures that all functions specified in the requirements and design are present and work as intended. If a system is not explicitly defined in documentation, functional testing will rely on the results of interviews and analysis of the system with key client personnel.
  • Failure Injection Testing. This is an extension of Requirements, Specification and Use Case Based Testing, in which the tests are executed using either erroneous initial conditions or invalid data elements. In these tests, all boundary conditions are exercised.
  • Data Driven Testing. These tests validate that each unique data element can be accessed and used according to the requirements. These test cases are based strictly on the data used and not the functional flow or work flow of the system.
  • Data Integrity Testing. Ensures the integrity of data across all functions. • Operational Readiness or End-to-End Testing. This is a true end-user environment following all business rules and processes. This type of testing is highly beneficial since it demonstrates a system’s ability to perform its job within the exact set of processes and steps that would be used in the real world.
  • Regression Testing. Selective retesting of a unit or system to verify that modifications have not caused unintended adverse effects and that the item being tested still complies with its specified requirements. Regression testing is performed at Integration, System and User Acceptance levels.
  • Database Conversion Testing. Includes validation of data as it is transferred from legacy database systems to new database engines. Once all data has been converted, specific test cases are executed to validate the database schema design as well as the data transfer.
  • User Acceptance Testing. Is the software ready for production? Will end users use it? These are the crucial questions answered by this phase of testing. Utilizing actual customers and end-users, SysTest Labs will execute a specific User System Acceptance Test Plan to assure production readiness.
