SysTest Labs, a Denver-based national leader in software testing and quality assurance, can now perform source code testing to evaluate software vulnerabilities that will help merchants and application vendors comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements. In response to the many well-publicized data losses in 2008, the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) implemented the new and rigorous PCI DSS 6.6 requirements. These new standards require merchants to protect their credit card holders' data using the methods outlined by PCI, including source code review by organizations that specialize in application security. SysTest Labs can now review payment applications for source code vulnerabilities to fulfill the mandate, which may be strengthened again in October. “Though the PCI Council allows for any one of three tests to meet the PCI 6.6 requirements, source code review is the only solution that tests 100 percent of the code," said Ron Wood, director of security at SysTest Labs. “By eliminating the vulnerabilities in the application, and testing during development, the application will be easier to maintain and protect.” SysTest Labs has 10 years of experience testing source code for applications in government, retail and electronic voting systems. From this experience, SysTest Labs has the knowledge to perform testing for cross-site scripting, SQL injection, information leakage and other vulnerabilities, to protect patient data, Social Security numbers and card holder data as required by the PCI council. |
