Managing Technology Risk
Voting System Testing & Certification
Electronic voting systems compliance testing is a core SLI competency and service offering. Under the auspices of the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in partnership with the United States Election Assistance Commission (EAC), SLI is an accredited Voting System Test Laboratory (VSTL).
SLI enjoys nearly a decade of experience testing a wide range of voting systems across most manufacturers in the marketplace. Our experience includes electronic scanning, direct recording devices, and internet voting technologies.
Our extensive knowledge of election processes, software security practices, and voting system industry standards assures your test engagement receives the high-quality testing rigor required to meet today’s certification compliance standards. SLI is the only accredited VSTL in the US to apply its rigorous test protocols to the International Community, as well as for State and Federal projects at home.
The SLI Advanced Voting System Test Protocol™ is designed to ensure that all parties fulfill stipulated certification requirements. Our unique, modular test methods can be configured to cover the full range of election system requirements in any electoral system. Our test methods are supported with a powerful range of test management tools and reporting capabilities that deliver transparent and accurate results, while keeping pace with tight delivery schedules.
SLI offers a range of pre- and post-election verification services and forensic analysis capabilities. SLI can ensure that the system configuration is correct and matches the originally specified baseline. We ensure that no data manipulation or other penetration occurred during voting or counting and that results are verifiable. When conducting an audit, especially of older systems, SLI has the expertise to understand the system under test and has the tools and background to deliver reliable and repeatable results.
“We are so gratified that our cumulative efforts have yielded the much-needed results. I must hasten to add that the work of the entire SLI team has definitely lent so much credibility to this entire electoral process ... for this alone, you have the gratitude of not just this member of the Technical Evaluation Committee, but more likely that of an entire nation.”
